Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 June 2025
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Silsilay (“the Service”), operated by Silsilay Technologies (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including parents, guardians, and children accessing the platform through parent-created accounts.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account on Silsilay.
- Child accounts (for users aged 5–16) can only be created by a parent or legal guardian who holds an active Silsilay account and subscription.
- By creating a child account, you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent to the child's use of the Service under your supervision.
- The Service is primarily designed for users in Pakistan, though it may be accessible from other locations.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Parent Accounts
- You may register using email and password or through Google or Apple sign-in.
- You must provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must verify your email address before gaining full access to the Service.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3.2 Child Accounts
- Child accounts are created by parents with a username and password. No email is required from the child.
- You, as the parent, are fully responsible for your child's account and all activity conducted through it.
- You retain full control over child credentials — children cannot change their own username or password.
- You may access and read all of your child's chat messages, connections, and activity at any time.
- You may delete your child's account at any time from your account settings.
4. Subscription and Payment
- Silsilay is a paid service. Access to community features requires an active subscription.
- Subscription plans are billed at the rates displayed on our pricing page (currently starting at PKR 499/month per family).
- New subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. Your payment method is required upfront and will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle. You will be charged the then-current rate unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Payment processing is handled by a certified third-party payment processor. By subscribing, you also agree to the payment processor's terms of service.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal in Settings. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period.
- We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will continue to have access until the end of the paid period.
- If payment fails, your subscription enters a past-due state with a 3-day grace period. If payment is not resolved, community features will be restricted. Family mode features (schedules, meals, tasks) remain accessible.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Post, transmit, or share content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Collect, store, or share personal information about other users, especially children, without proper authorization.
- Send unsolicited commercial messages (spam) through chat or the building feed.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts, the Service's infrastructure, or any connected systems.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service or extract data.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.
- Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to facilitate illegal activity.
- Bypass or attempt to bypass any security measures, authentication systems, or access controls.
- Create multiple parent accounts for the same individual to circumvent subscription requirements.
6. User Content
- You retain ownership of all content you post on Silsilay (text posts, messages, photos, event details).
- By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content within the Service for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.
- We do not claim ownership of your content. This licence exists solely to enable the technical delivery of the Service (e.g., displaying your post in the building feed to other members).
- You are solely responsible for the content you post and must ensure it does not violate these Terms, applicable laws, or the rights of any third party.
- We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without prior notice.
- Chat messages are text-only by design. No image, file, or media attachments are supported in direct messages or group chats.
7. Community Guidelines
Silsilay is a family-oriented platform with children as active users. All users are expected to maintain a respectful, safe, and supportive environment:
- Respect: treat all families and children with courtesy and respect.
- Privacy: do not share other families' personal information outside the platform. Respect anonymous profiles.
- Safety: report any concerns about inappropriate contact with children immediately to us and relevant authorities.
- Authenticity: provide accurate address information. Community features rely on genuine building and neighbourhood data.
- Relevance: keep posts, polls, and events relevant to your building community and family life.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data and your children's data. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Anonymous Mode and Profile Visibility
- Parents can enable anonymous mode for themselves and each of their children.
- Anonymous profiles participate in community features but display a generic silhouette avatar and hidden name to other families.
- Anonymous mode does not affect the parent's ability to manage and monitor their child's account.
- By default, profiles are visible to verified families within the same building only.
- Misuse of anonymous mode to harass or deceive other users is prohibited and may result in account termination.
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, graphics, logos, trademarks, animations (including the community connection graph), and all other intellectual property, is owned by Silsilay Technologies and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services for authentication (such as Google and Apple sign-in), payment processing, cloud infrastructure, hosting, and security. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party service providers.
12. Disclaimers
- The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- We do not verify the identity of users beyond email verification and OAuth sign-in. We are not responsible for the accuracy of information provided by other users, including address and building information.
- We are not responsible for interactions between families or between children that occur on or off the platform. Parents are responsible for supervising their children's use of the Service.
- Silsilay is a communication and organisation tool, not a childcare, supervision, or safety-monitoring service.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Silsilay Technologies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or other intangible losses resulting from:
- Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Service.
- Any conduct or content of any third party or other user on the Service.
- Unauthorised access, use, or alteration of your content or data.
- Any interactions between users, whether online or offline.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
14. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time through Settings or by contacting us at support@silsilay.pk. Deleting your parent account will also delete all associated child accounts and data.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in prohibited conduct, or if required by law.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data deletion follows the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Pakistan. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lahore, Pakistan.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
