Community Guidelines
Last updated: 17 September 2026
Silsilay is where families get to know the neighbours they live beside. These guidelines keep it a place people are glad to open. They apply to everything you share — family chats, feed posts, polls, events, comments, photos and your family profile — and to every account.
1. Be a good neighbour
- Treat other families with the courtesy you would at the gate or in the lift.
- Disagree about ideas, not people. No insults, threats, or piling on.
- Keep posts, polls and events relevant to your community and useful to your neighbours.
2. Keep children safe
- Nothing that sexualises, endangers or exploits a child, ever. This includes comments on photos of children. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Don't ask for a child's contact details or try to talk to a child without their parents.
- Think before sharing photos of other people's children at events — ask their parents first.
3. Respect privacy
- Don't share another family's address, apartment number, phone number or photos without their permission.
- What is said in a family chat stays between the two families in it.
- Never ask anyone for a CNIC or other identity document. Silsilay never will either.
4. Not allowed
- Hate speech or slurs about religion, sect, ethnicity, caste, language, gender or disability.
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats or encouraging violence.
- Sexual content, nudity, or requests for either.
- Scams, spam, fake offers, pyramid schemes, or impersonating someone else.
- Selling or offering drugs, weapons, alcohol, tobacco, medicines or anything else illegal.
- False information about where you live, or a family profile for people who aren't you.
- Claiming to be an organisation you do not run, or a society's management when you are not. We verify every organisation by phone before anyone can see it.
4a. Organisations
Verified local organisations — a society's management office, shops, schools, clinics, mosques, clubs and charities — can post announcements and events in the societies they serve, and reply to members who message them. The same rules apply to them, and a few more:
- An organisation can never message you first. You start the conversation, and you can block it.
- Every organisation gets at most two notifications a day. Nobody can pay for more, or pay to appear higher in a list — there is nothing to buy on Silsilay.
- Only a verified society management can send an urgent notice, and only to its own society. Urgent notices are for things like a water supply being off — not for offers or events.
- Your apartment number is never shown to an organisation unless you tap Share my addressin a chat with it. If one asks for it any other way, report it.
- Report an organisation from the ⋯ menu on its page. We can remove its verification, suspend it or close it.
5. Report and block
If something breaks these guidelines, report it: press and hold a chat message, or use the ⋯ or Report option on a post, poll, event, comment, family profile or organisation page. Reports are confidential — nobody is told who reported them. You can block a family at the same time, and manage the families you have blocked in Profile → Settings → Blocked Accounts.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 15 or the FIA Cybercrime helpline on 1991 first.
6. What happens when the rules are broken
- Posts, messages and comments containing slurs or sexual terms are stopped before they are shared.
- Content reported by three different members is hidden from everyone until our team reviews it.
- The Silsilay team reviews every report — child-safety reports within 24 hours. Depending on what happened, we remove the content, send a warning, suspend the account from posting for 7 or 30 days, or ban it permanently.
- Child sexual abuse material and credible threats to a child are reported to the authorities.
- Warnings and suspensions arrive in Profile → Help & Support, where you can reply if you think we got it wrong.
7. Questions
Message the Silsilay team from Profile → Help & Support in the app, or email us.
